A product is only as good as its packaging. This applies in particular to products in the food&beverage and the healthcare markets where particularly stringent requirements as regards cleanliness, hygiene and convenience apply. For the production of small portion packs, the sealing time, pressure and temperature must be perfectly matched to the sealing materials, which is not easy task. Seams must be perfectly tight, and for certain applications, the lids must be peelable.
Punching and sealing in a single station
Neat and tightly sealed seams are of course crucial for the storability and integrity of a product. For cost-efficient packaging, material waste must be minimized. To achieve perfect accuracy and efficiency, Rychiger combines processes that are linked. With our unique one-stroke punching & sealing technology, all punching and heat-sealing processes are performed in a single station. This allows for much more precise positioning of the punched foil lid on the capsule and for perfect and neat seams, as the foil does not shift during the sealing process. Punching: Inline or offline?
Inline or offline punching? The machine platforms from Rychiger cater for both methods. Depending on the actual requirements, our machines perform the punching strokes directly above the containers to be filled (inline) or away from them (offline). With offline punching, the punching module is installed beside the container sealing line. The punching and sealing assemblies are thus separated from each other, and a handling unit transfers the punched foil lid to the container for sealing.
Do you need a machine with a small footprint that positions the lid foil with high precision? Then opt for our one-stroke punching & sealing technology that combines punching and heat sealing in a single process module. Specially designed tools place the lid foil on the container. The high precision with which this is done also makes sure that your products look good. On round containers, non-concentric lids are instantly spotted by the naked eye. This cannot happen with our one-stroke technology.
Perfect solutions for all materials
Are your lids made from plastic or aluminum? Are they pre-punched or supplied from reel? We offer you a punching and sealing technology that optimized for your material. Apart from lids, our units also process inserts such as paper filters. Do you want to minimize foil waste? For lid foils supplied on reels, we unwind the foil at an angle to the machine direction, as this allows us to reduce material consumption by up to 30 percent. Are your containers sealed with pre-punched lids? Then we recommend our fully automated feed systems where vacuum grippers take up the individual foil lids for sealing to the capsules.
Efficient sealing for maximum seal integrity
When choosing a sealing technology, one must take into account the lid material, the sealing contour and the type of seal (permanent or peelable).
Do you want to achieve maximum sealing performance? In this case, we recommend a sealing module with a hybrid drive where the lid is sealed while the capsule is positioned with high precision by the capsule carrier. To achieve a uniform sealing pressure, we use a high-precision servo drive combined with a preloaded air spring instead of conventional pneumatic cylinders. This method compensates differences in material thickness for a consistent high seam quality. In addition, our technology allows for exceptionally high output rates.
Does your product need to be processed under specific ambient conditions? We know all about sealing in vacuum or in shielding gas atmospheres, be it nitrogen, low oxygen or low humidity. For applications in clean rooms or air-conditioned premises where the temperature must be constant, we offer sealing tools equipped with special thermal insulation that minimizes heat dissipation.
Depending on your specific needs, our machines come with modules for heat sealing, ultrasonic sealing or heat pulse sealing.
